Let’s get ready for
some… free chicken sandwiches!
In honor of the NFL season, Shake Shack recently announced the chain will give customers a free Chicken Shack on Sundays through mid-December. The chain is marketing the promotion through social media.
Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and ESPN reporter Adam Schefter were tapped to post about the campaign on X. Fitzpatrick’s hilarious post depicts the burly, bearded former player apparently naked on a 1970’s style bearskin rug, his privates covered by Shake Shack boxes. The caption reads, “Shake Shack said free chicken, I said centerfold. We’re going all in on Free* Chicken Sundays for the people this season. #FeelingFree.”
“We introduced a special offer on Football Sundays to invite new guests to experience Shake Shack, especially those who might not typically consider us for chicken sandwiches,” said Mike McGarry, VP of brand marketing for Shake Shack in an email to Marketing Daily. “On a day when other spots are closed, we want to stand out by showcasing our commitment to quality, antibiotic-free chicken and premium ingredients.”

Tailgating pop-ups, with cooking onsite and free Chicken Shacks, will take place in select cities. Outdoor billboards, created by Talon, located near football stadiums will appear throughout Sept. Additional NFL figures will also be part of the social media promotion, per the announcement.
The offer is good with any $10 Shake Shack purchase via kiosk in-store or via the Shake Shack app or website for delivery or pick-up. Customers enter the code CHICKENSUNDAY to receive one free Chicken Shack, limited at one sandwich per order. The freebie will automatically apply once the code is entered.
