The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has announced $2.65 million in grants in its continued support of local journalism, providing over $7.3 million in grants in fiscal year 2024.
These newest awards will strengthen state government coverage by public media in Colorado, Florida, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina.
Selected from 21 proposals submitted by public media organizations, the states and grant amounts are as follows:
“The growth of local journalism is essential to the civic health of our nation,” saya Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of CPB. “Public radio and television stations, locally operated, are deeply connected to the communities they serve. Their primary mission is to provide trusted, fact-based reporting on issues of local concern so that people can make fully informed decisions.”
