Hearst Connecticut Media Group is in talks to acquire The Republican American, Sunday Republican, rep-am.com and the Citizen News of Northwest
Connecticut, the Republican-American reports.
The purchase could be finalized in January.

The Republican-American's origin dates back to 1844 and the founding of the Waterbury-American.
The Republican-American serves Greater Waterbury, Litchfield County and the Naugatuck Valley. Roughly 130 journalists are employed by Hearst Connecticut Media Group.
