Elon Musk's X Corp. will attempt to add “multiple” defendants to his lawsuit against the World Federation of Advertisers and others over an alleged ad boycott, according to court papers filed Friday.
The suit, which originally was filed in August 2024, named the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and its now defunct Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), as well as several WFA members including Danish energy company Ørsted, food companies Unilever and Mars, and healthcare company CVS Health as defendants violating U.S. antitrust laws by scheming to deprive X of ad revenue.
In October 2024, X dropped its claims against Unilever, following an undisclosed "agreement" between the two companies.

In November 2024, X amended the suit to include Amazon's Twitch unit.
According to Friday's court filing, X plans to name additional defendants in a second amended complaint, and share a draft of the second amended complaint with existing defendants no later than Jan. 20.
"Depriving" X of ad revenue is about as specious of a legal argument as you can make. Media companies earn ad dollars by ensuring they can deliver audiences and avoid headaches for their clients, something X seems incapable of doing since their acquisition. Nobody owes X or any other company a penny of their ad budget.
