President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday he will tap Senate staffer Olivia Trusty to serve on the Federal Communications Commission.
“Olivia will work with our incredible new Chairman of the FCC, Brendan Carr, to cut regulations at a record pace, protect Free Speech, and ensure every American has access to affordable and fast Internet,” Trump posted to Truth Social.
Trusty currently serves as policy director on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. She has worked in various capacities on Capitol Hill since 2013. Among other jobs, she served as an aide to Senator Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) and Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio), according to her LinkedIn profile.

Before her work in Congress, she worked for Verizon as a senior consultant for public policy, law and security, according to her profile.
If confirmed, Trusty will be a third Republican on the five-member commission, leaving the agency poised to enact Trump's agenda.
Carr, Trump's pick to head the agency, has famously blasted tech companies for supposedly suppressing right-wing views.
“We must dismantle the censorship cartel and restore free speech rights for everyday Americans,” he tweeted last November, soon after he was tapped to helm the agency.
