Boston Globe Media has assumed control
of Boston magazine, taking it over from Metro Corp., publisher of Philadelphia magazine.
The terms were not disclosed.
All members of the
Boston team were given offers to continue.
“Boston magazine has been a vital part of our city’s cultural and creative landscape for more than 50 years, serving
as a chronicler of Boston’s evolution and a champion of its vibrant community,” says Linda Henry, CEO and co-owner of Boston Globe Media.
Henry
continues, “Like many who grew up here, The Boston Globe was always on my breakfast table and Boston magazine was on the coffee table.
The
possible arrangement was reported by Media Nation in December in 2024.

Boston magazine, which publishes Best of Boston rankings, has suffered budget cuts in recent
years, it was reported at that time.
Herb Lipson, who had succeeded with Philadelphia magazine, acquired Boston magazine when the Boston Chamber of Commerce put it up for sale in
1970.
“My father, Herb Lipson, was a true pioneer of the city magazine format,” says David Lipson, chairman and CEO of Metro
Corp.
Henry adds, “This is not just about sustaining a magazine—it’s about strengthening a cornerstone of Boston’s identity and ensuring its
stories continue to inspire, connect, and resonate with our community for generations to come.”
