Popeyes, Tequila Don Julio Team Up For Big Game Menu Promo

Just because your brand isn’t part of the Super Bowl broadcast doesn’t mean it can’t help fans celebrate the Big Game.

New Orleans-based Popeyes, which has designated itself the “Official Wing of Watching Football,” and the also self-proclaimed “Official Tequila of the Big Game,” Tequila Don Julio,  have come together to launch a special menu in honor of the Super Bowl.

The Popeyes x Tequila Don Julio Championship Lineup menu is available for a limited time while supplies last, at only six select Popeyes locations for customers 21+. According to the brand, the menu “combines the rich heritage of Popeyes' Louisiana-style cooking with the bold flavors of Tequila Don Julio Reposado.”

Topping the menu is the Popeyes x Tequila Don Julio Reposado Flavored Concha Chicken Sandwich, which is a chicken breast marinated in reposado tequila, then fried in buttermilk breading, with a tequila lime slaw, spicy spread, a barrel cured pickle on a traditional Mexican concha roll. Additional menu items include Popeyes x Tequila Don Julio Reposado Flavored Louisiana Garlic 3-Piece Wings and a Spicy Strawberry Hibiscus Flavored Lemonade Mocktail.

The menu is being promoted on both brands’ social networks with a video, seen here, which depicts a rowdy group of 20-somethings partying in a Popeyes’ kitchen while making items on the new menu with Tequila Don Julio.

On Jan. 31, the menu will go live in Popeyes locations in New York City, Miami, New Orleans, and both the “hometowns of the teams headed to Football's Big Game, Philadelphia and Kansas City.”  In New Orleans the menu will be available through Feb. 9 at the newly redesigned Popeyes’ flagship restaurant on Canal Street, while supplies last.

Those customers who do not have access to The Championship Lineup can redeem a BOGO Chicken Sandwich when purchasing Popeyes on UberEats, as well as receive a $5 code to redeem toward purchase of a Tequila Don Julio from Jan. 29-Feb. 9.
