Union editorial staffers have reached a tentative
contract deal with NBC News.
The 300 workers in the NBC Digital NewsGuild will vote to ratify the contract in the near future.
“This contract is a huge step forward
for journalists at NBC News,” says Tate James, documentary video editor and unit chair. “We will now have the job security essential to fighting for transparency and accountability without
fear.”
The agreement is the first for the bargaining unit that was certified in 2019. The five-year battle included a one-day strike in 2023.
If ratified, the contract will
provide:
- Immediate pay increases of up to 17%, and with 9% minimum throughout the three-year contract.
- A salary floor of $65,000 by the
last year of the agreement
- Strong new protections concerning job security and layoffs, rehire rights and just cause without
exception.
- An end to forced arbitration discrimination and harassment cases.
- Pay policies that provide for compensation for extended
workday and weekend work.
