In what could be a harbinger of moves at other publications, Indiana Gazette, a newspaper serving Indiana, Pennsylvania, has increased its newsstand price by 50 cents, raising it to $2.00 for the daily paper, and $4.00 for the weekend edition.
This hike occurs as print media faces declining circulation nationwide and an accompanying drop in advertising. Print publishers need other forms of revenue to stay in business,
In March, the publication had halted a planned surcharge on its print edition when planned tariffs on Canadian goods, which would have led to a hike in newsprint costs, were paused.
It was not clear at deadline if Wednesday’s pullback on tariffs on many nations, would impact the price increase at the Gazette.
