Gannett’s flagship
title USA Today is expanding its footprint in sports with a new vertical for a perhaps underserved group: women.
The new sports hub will feature
multimedia coverage of women’s athletics at both the collegiate and professional levels, including video footage, dynamic photo galleries and reporting from the USA Today Network. It is
presented by Cisco.
“Given USA Today Sports’ reach of approximately 46 million unique visitors each month and the surge of reader interest in
women’s sports, this expansion of our robust sports coverage is a natural evolution of our award-winning journalism,” says Roxanna Scott, executive editor
of USA Today Sports.

The launch was to be celebrated Monday night with a launch/viewing party sponsored by Taboola.
Women’s sports is a hot topic. Just
this week, Cosmopolitan announced a new franchise Cosmo Sports, featuring coverage and personal reporting on female athletes.
Studio IX will feature writing by seasoned
journalists like Nancy Armour and Meghan Hall.
“I have advocated for women in sports my entire career," says Alicia DelGallo,
senior editor of USA Today Sports, who will lead USA Today Studio IX. "Creating a platform of this magnitude to feature the inspirational athletes, executives and
trailblazers who are role models to girls everywhere is truly a dream come true,” says DelGallo.
