Natural Light Beer Gives Dads Both The Man Cave And Garage

Natural Light’s new Father’s Day promo is aimed squarely at dads who desire a man cave and a garage workshop, but may not have the room for both. Now, courtesy of the beer, they may not have a man cave inside the house, but they can have a work bench that turns their garage into one.

The brand tapped its “Craft Ambassador,” 1990s sitcom star (“Home Improvement”) and IRL dad Richard Karn to promote the new ToolBar, which is a Murphy-bed-inspired folding garage work bench. When down, the bench appears to be typical garage storage and workspace that includes a peg board for tools. But this Transformer-esque space saving bench also flips up to create a  “post-work celebration station, featuring a built-in dartboard and can holders,” according to the brand.

“This Father’s Day, we wanted to give handy dads a space-saving setup where they can knock out a project or kick back,” Krystyn Stowe, head of marketing, Busch Family & Natural Family at Anheuser-Busch, said in the announcement. “Richard Karn’s no-nonsense know-how and love for tools and tinkering made him the perfect partner for this build. … Richard brings the kind of energy our fans love: approachable, capable, and serious about having a good time.”

An ad for the ToolBar starring Karn, seen here, is in full 1990s style reminiscent of informercials by the king of the genre, Ron Popeil. As Karn highlights the bench’s many benefits (while crafting a Natural Light birdhouse), he reveals the folded up “man cave” version.

The spot ends on a super of the “limited-time offer” to enter to win the ToolBar for Father’s Day.

Natural Light didn’t develop the idea for the ToolBar in a vacuum. In its research, the brand found that “94% of Natural Light drinkers in top-selling markets are hardcore DIYers, handling everything from home repairs to vehicle maintenance on their own.”

Customers can enter to win the ToolBar by following Natural Light on Instagram, Meta or X and commenting with a post by June 15. The beer brand has also posted DIY instructions on how dads can build a ToolBar of their own here.
