Organic Valley was founded in 1988 by seven Wisconsin farmers who believed in a cooperative model that prioritized farming organically in harmony with nature.
The brand’s 2023–2024 “Protecting Where Your Food Comes From” campaign featured cows spelling out “BUZZ-WORTHY” in fields on small organic family farms.
Organic Valley protects over 440,000 acres of organic farmland across the U.S.

Organic Valley is farmer-owned. It is now the largest organic, farmer-owned cooperative in the U.S.
The cooperative helped shape the original USDA organic standards.
Organic Valley had a Happy Cow Showdown contest in May which invited all consumers to vote for the happiest "cowtestant." For every
10 votes cast, Organic Valley would plant one tree — up to 1,000 trees on their farms. Consumers
cast enough votes to make that happen in just a few days! The winner was Hazel, a sassy and spunky bovine from Wisconsin.
