Gannett has hired Heather Burns as the first women’s sports editor of USA Today. Burns will lead women’s sports content across the USA Today Network
and the new USA Today Studio IX.
Previously Burns led ESPN’s digital NFL team, having spent 17 years at ESPN.
Burns began her career at Gannett,
starting as a high school sports reporter in Iowa City, and later worked as an editor and assistant sports editor at The Detroit News.
