Taco Bell Goes Back To Y2K With Decades Menu, Ed Hardy Merch

Taco Bell has brough back its now-annual Decades menu, this time with a fashion merch collaboration that screams the 2000s.

The $3-and-under Decades Y2K Menu launches nationally Sept. 9, consisting of Taco Bell menu items from the aughts. Included in the new menu are Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, 7-Layer Burritos, Chili Cheese Burritos and Double Decker Tacos. Taco Bell Rewards members get early access to the throwback Caramel Apple Empanadas from Sept. 2 through Sept. 8 before the national rollout.

But it doesn’t get more Y2K than Ed Hardy, the brand that was everywhere in the early 2000s with tattoo-inspired streetwear, based on the artwork of vintage tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy.  Taco Bell has collaborated with the American fashion brand on an exclusive Y2K Ed Hardy Taco Bell hat, which, along with a Y2K digital watch and vintage-style shirts, will be made available in weekly Tuesday drops Sept. 2 through Sept. 16.

In a nod to the 2000s digital pets craze, Taco Bell has also released the Crunchkin, an in-app digital pet that grows as customers “play” with it. When customers “fully evolve” their Crunchkin, they unlock sweepstakes entries for a Taco Bell Y2K Merch Capsule, which contains Decades Y2K merch like the Ed Hardy hat, digital watch and T-shirts.

The brand launched the menu in Los Angeles this week with an event headlined by Grammy Award-winning (and Y2K) artist Lil Jon.

One item that has remained on the Taco Bell menu since the 2000s is the “hexagon hero” Crunchwrap Supreme, and in honor of its 20th anniversary, the brand is offering a $9 Discovery Luxe Cravings Box, which contains the Crunchwrap Supreme, Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, a Crunchy Taco, Chips & Nacho Cheese Sauce, and a medium fountain drink.
