Puck is on track to acquire Air Mail, the newsletter company
co-founded by Graydon Carter, the former editor editor of Vanity Fair, and Alessandra Stanley, a former reporter for The New York Times, the Times reports.
The terms have not been disclosed.
In 2019, Air Mail described itself as “digital weekly that unfolds like the better weekend editions of your favorite
newspapers.”
Carter, who served at Vanity Fair for 25 years, told the Times that the ideal reader would be a sophisticated person.
“They're
not backpackers, and they're not in Las Vegas, drinking champagne and sitting around in their heart-shaped bathtub,” he said.
This apparently isn’t the first possible sale. Early
in 2024, Semafor reported that it would be acquired for $50 million by Standard Industries, with Carter to retain an ownership interest.
