This week Buffalo Wild Wings rolls out “Hank
the Halls,” an animated spot starring the brand’s buffalo mascot, who is apparently named Hank. The retro-styled ad is filmed in stop-motion style, similar to vintage TV specials like
“Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.”
In the spot, seen here, Hank and Santa are seen
sharing the chain’s “Pick 6” meal. Santa’s reindeer are grounded after getting into a fight over a chicken wing, so it’s up to Hank to pull a Rudolph, flying
Santa’s sleigh and saving Christmas. Hank’s formerly “decorative” wings take flight with a little holiday magic help from Santa.
’Hank the Halls’ marks
Buffalo Wild Wings’ first-ever holiday campaign and serves to remind our fans that the holidays are a great time to come into our restaurants,” says Tristan Meline, CMO at Buffalo Wild
Wings

To accompany the ad, the brand has also released a limited edition $20 blind box, only available for Wild Wings Rewards members. Blind boxes, which traditionally have packaging that
hides the specific product inside so customers will keep buying until they find the one they want, surged in popularity this year due to the Labubu craze.
Beginning Dec. 10, the chain will
drop 100 “Halls Blind Boxes,” in the Buffalo Wild Wings Rewards Shop. The boxes contain felt ornaments “that bring the campaign to life,” such as a chicken wing, brawling
reindeer and a mid-swearing Santa.
The ad and blind box promotions run nationally on broadcast and online, as well as on Buffalo Wild Wings social networks, through the holiday
season.
