A judge has declared that a lawsuit over
so-called boneless wings “has no meat on its bones.”
“In an opinion
laden with poultry puns, an Illinois judge sided with restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings in a false advertising suit brought by a customer who was unhappy to discover that the
‘boneless wings’ he ordered were not actually made of wing meat, but rather deboned breasts,” according to The Washington Post. “In 2023, a Chicago man named Aimen Halim claimed
the wing chain had unfairly duped him, contending that the chicken he was served was ‘more akin, in composition, to a chicken nugget rather than a chicken wing.’”

U.S. District Judge John Tharp Jr., who dismissed the lawsuit, pointed to a recent Ohio Supreme Court decision that said no reasonable diner thinks "chicken fingers" are made from fingers,
according to Fox News.
BWW responded to the lawsuit in a
2023 tweet, according to UPI.
"It's true. Our boneless wings
are all white meat chicken. Our hamburgers contain no ham. Our buffalo wings are 0% buffalo," the company said.
The company took to social media to celebrate its victory.
”They’re called boneless wings and will forever be called boneless wings," Buffalo Wild Wings posted. “Celebrate the court’s decision today with BOGO FREE boneless
wings.”
“Not everyone commenting on the brand’s post seemed to support the court’s ruling,” according to Austin American-Statesman. "Several users on Reddit expressed outrage
over the judge’s defense of using the word ‘wings’ in the phrase ‘boneless wings.’”
The lawsuit isn't necessarily gone forever, though.
“The judge gave Halim a deadline of March 20 to file an amended complaint if he thinks he can add more facts and keep it alive,” according to Delish.
