Envoy, a magazine devoted to covering the United Nations and international issues, has named Stéphanie Fillion as editor in chief.
It is a serious job
requiring inside knowledge and intellectual rigor.
A Canadian journalist, Fillion has reported from the Union Nations headquarters for nearly a decade. She specializes in
covering foreign affairs and human rights. Her work has appeared in Forbes, Foreign Policy, CNN, Radio-Canada, La Stampa, and Japan’s Asahi
Shimbun.
“Envoy was created to give readers deeper, more human access to the people and ideas shaping multilateralism,” said Razi
Canikligil, founder and president of Envoy. “Stéphanie is exactly the kind of editor Envoy needs for this moment—an on-the-ground UN correspondent
with the editorial ambition to expand our reporting, elevate diverse voices, and sharpen our lens on the forces reshaping diplomacy.”

Launched in 2024, Envoy is published
by UNEMAG, a nonprofit organization headquartered at the United Nations in New York City.
Fillion will be tasked with leading editorial for Envoy’s
quarterly issues and digital platforms. The goal is to provide ambitious reporting and analysis from UN Headquarters, connecting institutional developments at the UN with the broader geopolitical
shifts that are causing them.
“I’ve been covering the UN for nearly a decade—from the COVID-19 pandemic to Ukraine, Gaza, and the organization’s
current funding crisis,” Fillion says. “This is precisely the moment to stay, report, and explain what’s at stake.
She adds, “At Envoy, we’ll
pair insider access with big-picture storytelling, expand our social platforms, and lift diverse voices across the diplomatic and international-affairs community.”
