Broadcasters must “liberate their talent” and allow journalists to act like independent creators if they want to rebuild trust and remain relevant, Deborah Turness, the former CEO
of BBC News, said in a speech in London this week, Nieman Lab reports. “I believe the established media hasn’t confronted the hard truth that this revolution isn’t just about
consumers moving to different platforms,” said Turness. “It’s that they are choosing more direct forms of journalism in a more fragmented media universe.” Turness
and BBC Director General Tim Davie resigned last November after a BBC documentary about January 6 allegedly edited a speech by President Donald Trump in a misleading way.
