Gmail Live, the feature announced in May by Google, is now
available in beta to Android, iPhone and iPad users.
The new offering helps people manage their inbox more efficiently, Google claims.
For instance, consumers can find
information they need without manual scrolling or typing, thanks to natural language—they just use their voice. With Gmail Live, they can ask questions and receive immediate answers
synthesized from their emails. They can also conduct a back-and-forth conversation.
The person needs a personal Google account and access to Google Workspace Experiments, Google’s
early access program for features being tested. And, of course, they must have the Gmail app for the Android, iPhone and iPad devices.
It's not clear how this service can benefit email
marketers, unless it is by helping shoppers find a product they saw in an email.

9to5 Google describes it by saying, “Gmail Live lets you search your inbox by voice. You can think
of it as an instance of Gemini Live optimized for emails."
Endgadget adds, “It's part of Google's attempt to replicate the experience of using Gemini Live — live voice chats
with the Gemini chatbot — in popular apps like Gmail, Docs and Drive, with each getting its own version of the functionality in the coming months.”
It does more than that:
“To help you track your previous conversation, Gmail Live saves transcripts in your conversation history with Gemini in Workspace,” Google says.
Whatever its properties,
Gmail Live is expected to be rolled out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers this summer.
