Subway is rewarding customers who have experienced
the horrors of an unsatisfying lunch with a new Halloween promo.
The sandwich brand this week invites customers who have regretted an unfortunate midday meal to submit their gripes to LunchtimeHorrors.com from Oct. 12-16.
Complainers then have a chance to receive one of thousands of $15 Subway eGift cards that can be used to
purchase a Footlong sandwich.
The QSR provides examples of such ill-fated lunch orders ias “the $20 smoothie that left you hungry…. the $25 salad that wasn't worth it [or] the
greasy burger that weighed you down.”
The promo was inspired by a recent survey commissioned by the QSR that found “66% of U.S. adults say they at least sometimes regret
their lunch choice.”

“We make sandwiches, not time machines. But we can give people something to look forward to at their next lunch,” said Jeff Klein, CMO, Subway, in a
release. “Feed Your SUBconscious is an invitation to listen to that inner voice that knows what you really want. This Halloween, we're giving Americans a chance to act on it, with
thousands of freshly prepared footlongs on us.”
The brand’s survey was conducted by Big Village in Sept. among a sample of 1,010 U.S. adults aged 18 or older. The results also
found the top reasons Americans regretted their lunch choice include 34% who said, “what they ate didn’t fill them up;” 35% who ate “unhealthy” food; and 28% who thought
their lunch “wasn’t worth what they paid.” Of those surveyed 70% said they “regularly skip lunch” at least once a week.
The Lunchtime Horrors promo is
a continuation of Subway’s new “Feed Your SUBconscious” brand platform which rolled out in September with a campaign starring actor Will Arnett. The platform emphasizes the
QSR’s freshly sliced meats, daily baked bread and fresh vegetables to position it as better fast food option.
