Arena Media To Place Screens In MLB Stadiums Featuring 'Live' Programming

Arena Media Networks, which operates an ad-supported network in sports venues, has inked deals with 10 Major League Baseball stadiums to place its screens near concession stands, box office windows and other locales.

The three-year-old venture is now available in 12 MLB stadiums--including facilities in the three largest markets: New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The network, which is in 21 facilities overall with HD flat-panel screens, aims to reach fans waiting in lines to buy concessions or tickets.

It offers "live" programming that includes sports scores, weather, info and financial market results as well as highlights, entertainment news, and trivia. Geico has signed on to sponsor the updated sports scores; other advertisers include Nokia, Suzuki, and MasterCard. Advertisers can alter ads in real-time to reflect a new promotion or sale.

"We give advertisers the ability to display updated information on a minute-by-minute basis," said AMN's Co-CEO Tom Kiernan.

Arena is part of the proliferation of out-of-home networks that now span from public transportation (TransitTV) to office-building elevators (Captivate) to retailers Best Buy, Circuit City and Wal-Mart.

Arena operates its network during all events in a specific arena, including concerts and the circus. Advertisers have the option to activate targeted ads during certain events.

New stadiums with AMN include Yankee Stadium, Boston's Fenway Park and San Francisco's AT&T Park.
