TV Guide Includes DVD Preview

The "summer preview" issue of TV Guide will be packaged with a DVD that gives sneak peeks, cast interviews, and "behind-the-scenes" content from both new and established series, including TV Guide's picks for the best comedies, family shows, and reality TV. The DVD will be packaged in 700,000 issues to be sold in top markets including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Portland, and Boston. Shows to be previewed include HBO's "Entourage," Showtime's "Brotherhood," and TNT's "The Closer."

TV Guide's announcement comes a week after Future US Inc.--publisher of mens' and women's lifestyle mags including Guitar World, Revolver Magazine, Women's Health and Fitness, and PC Gamer--boasted that including DVDs drove a 12.5 percent increase in retail sales on a dollar basis over the last year.

Magazine Group Names Scott Morehouse Sales VP

On Friday the Magazine Group, a custom publishing firm, announced that Scott Morehouse will become vice president for sales. Morehouse will take responsibility for the firm's health care and pharmaceutical publications, which include business-to-business titles and consumer-focused publications such as WebMD The Magazine, a successful sister publication to the online portal of the same name, and Diabetes Forecast. Morehouse previously worked for Parade Publications, America Online, and the Washington Redskins.

ESPN Taps Steven Binder for Magazine Sales VP

Steven Binder is joining ESPN as vice president for magazine sales, taking charge of ad revenue and strategy for ESPN The Magazine. Binder previously worked for Scarsdale Sports--a division of S.C.B. Sports LTD--where he was responsible for operational, financial, and marketing direction. From 1999 to 2004, Binder also worked for Conde Nast, where he was publisher and senior vice president of Golf Digest Magazine.

Steven DeLuca Joins Maxim as Associate Publisher

Steven DeLuca is joining Dennis Publishing as associate publisher of Maxim, group publisher Rob Gregory announced Wednesday. DeLuca's previous position as publisher of Rolling Stone had him directing a sales force of 16 in eight offices around the United States and Europe. DeLuca has also served as associate publisher of Vanity Fair and In Style.

Deirdre Finnegan Named Cottage Living Associate Publisher

Deirdre Finnegan has been promoted to associate publisher of Cottage Living magazine, the publication announced Thursday. Previously, she had served as advertising director for the magazine, which targets high-income women--where she presided over two rate base increases. In that position, Finnegan forged strong ties with Madison Avenue, according to Stephen Bohlinger, Cottage Living's publisher.
