MTV Networks Expands Its Portfolio With Web Properties

  • June 12, 2006
MTV Networks may have lost its digital czar, but it continues to snap up Web properties to expand its portfolio. The Viacom unit's Logo network--which targets the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities--has acquired three complementary sites: 365Gay.com, AfterEllen.com and AfterElton.com. MTVN also recently acquired XFIRE, Gametrailers.com, iFilm and Neopets. Those acquisitions came with Jason Hirschhorn, MTVN's chief digital officer, on board. Hirschhorn left the company last month. The newest acquisitions aim to further MTVN's goal of making Logo the leading brand in entertainment and news targeting LGBT audiences. "Bringing relevant brands and creative voices like these into our company is at the heart of our digital strategy," said Judy McGrath, MTVN's Chairman-CEO.
