In preparation for its new CW affiliation, Tribune Broadcasting is giving a helping hand to "WWE Friday Night SmackDown," which has been left in the lurch following the massive stations' affiliation
end-of-season changes concerning the WB and UPN stations.
The long-time UPN network show will air on Tribune stations WPIX in New York, KTLA in Los Angeles, WGN in Chicago, WDCW
in Washington, KHCW in Houston and WTXX in Hartford, Conn. before the show makes its official way to the new CW network, which debuts September 22.
Soon-to-be former UPN affiliates, Fox-owned
stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington DC., as well as a Lin Broadcasting outlet in Hartford, are set to become MyNetworkTV affiliates--a network that has an early September debut
date. These stations will not air "SmackDown." Other UPN affiliates, however, which will become MyNetworkTV affiliates, will air the show in other dayparts of their schedule.
