'Snakes' Takes In $15.3M

After widespread blogosphere exposure, "Snakes on a Plane" earned just $15.3 million in its first three days. For the weekend, the box office receipts came to $13.9 million, putting the movie behind "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" ($14.1 million). The summer's box office leaders had considerably stronger first weekends than "Snakes." For example, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" earned around $135.6 million opening weekend; "The Da Vinci Code" opened at $77 million; and "Superman Returns" earned $52,535,096 its first weekend.
