NBC To Launch 'Real Wedding Crashers'

NBC will try and punk real brides and grooms. The network plans to launch a reality show based on the 2005 hit film "Wedding Crashers." It will send actors into real-life nuptials and follow their antics with hidden cameras.

Ashton Kutcher, the star of MTV's "Punk'd," which used hidden cameras to play hoaxes on celebrities, is an executive producer.

Called "The Real Wedding Crashers," New Line, the film's studio, will also produce the television spinoff. The show will have a limited six-episode run.

NBC, which did not release a premiere date, says the pranksters won't always stir up trouble, but may unite troubled families in emotional segments.

"Working with Ashton and knowing his memorable experiences with the jokes he pulled off on 'Punk'd' made it that much more enticing," says Craig Plestis, senior vice president of alternative programming at NBC.
