Network Shuffle: TV Shows Switch Time Slots

Two weeks into the new season, the network shuffling has begun. Network executives at Fox, NBC and CBS have seen the negative trends and are making moves.

Fox will announce a post-baseball season move affecting Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. The chief problem is the troubling and low-rated "Vanished," which will move from a plum 9 p.m. Monday time slot after "Prison Break" to the sometimes TV network Siberia of Friday night.

"Vanished" will now air at 8 p.m. Friday starting Oct. 27, replacing "Nanny 911." Fox will move "Justice" to the Monday time slot that "Vanished" once held. "Justice" airs on Wednesday at 9 p.m.

Replacing "Justice" will be a new reality-game show, "The Rich List," in which teams of strangers use knowledge and strategy to complete lists to win big money. The show follows "Bone" at 9 p.m.

In other Fox programming news, "Trading Spouses" will return with a two-hour season premiere on Friday, Oct. 20. Then on Tuesday, Oct. 31, Fox's heavy-hitting show "House" returns to its 9 p.m. time period, switching spots with new drama "Standoff," which starts at 8 p.m. After the baseball playoffs, Fox will bring back its two new sitcoms on Thursdays: "'Til Death" and "Happy Hour" on Nov. 2 will lead into the "The O.C."

Earlier, NBC saw its low-rated "Kidnapped" steadily decline in is Wednesday 10 p.m. time slot. The show's average viewership dropped to just 6.3 million people from its premiere, which pulled in 7.6 million. That sparse attention was enough for the network and its producer, Sony Pictures Television, to stop production of the new drama. NBC bought 13 episodes, and it committed to airing all 13.

CBS saw its new comedy "The Class" get roughed up on Monday at 8 p.m. CBS decided to switch "Class" with its other comedy, "How I Met Your Mother." "Mother" will now run at 8 p.m. and "The Class" will go at 8:30 p.m. starting Oct. 9. CBS originally scheduled "Class" and "Mother" at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively, but changed its plans during the summer.
