Second Life Visits Spike

Searches for Second Life surged the week that Reuters said it was opening a news bureau inside the multiplayer game, according to new data by Hitwise. The measurement company reported that the share of U.S. Web searches for "second life" soared 73% for the week ending Oct. 21, compared to the week ending Oct. 14. Visits to the Second Life Web site also more than doubled from the week ending Oct. 7 to the week ending Oct. 21.The share of older visitors also surged last week. For the four weeks ending Sept. 23, around 33% of SecondLife.com visitors were between 18 and 24, while around 6% were over 55. But for the week ending Oct. 21, 18-24 year-olds accounted for 26% of visitors, while Web users over 55 accounted for 15%.
