NBC Owns Monday, CBS Distant Second

NBC is cementing its relationship with viewers on Monday night. Now, its rookie can-do show "Heroes" is getting some help.

In the 8 p.m. time slot, NBC's steady and ever-growing "Deal or No Deal" has hit seasonal highs with a big Nielsen preliminary 5.5 rating in adults 18-49. That's just shy of its highest numbers set during last season's finale. The show has improved greatly from its early season mid 4.0 numbers in the demos.

Such rises lifted NBC to a 5.1/13--another Monday first-place victory.

CBS was in second again, this week with a 4.6/12. "How I Met Your Mother" pulled a 3.8 rating, while rookie show "The Class" still looks shaky with a 3.0 number. At 9 p.m., CBS continues to get trounced. Its 4.4 average for the hour of "Two and a Half Men" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" came in a distant second place to NBC's all-conquering "Heroes" and its 6.5 rating.

Fox was next at a 3.5/9, but not because of fresh new programming. A repeat of "House" with a 3.3 rating among 18-49 viewers almost doubled the numbers of "Justice," which ran in the Monday 9 p.m. time slot the week before. "Justice" was recently benched by Fox for its low-rated performance.

For ABC, the 18-49 season leader, Mondays continue to be a weak spot. It could only muster a 2.8/7, with its best performance coming again from its 9 p.m. show, "The Bachelor: Rome." It took in a 3.4 rating for third place. At 10 p.m., "What About Brian" continues to suffer; now down to a 2.5 rating. Its previous outing pulled in a 2.8 number.

The 10 p.m. hour was easily dominated by CBS' "CSI: Miami" with a 6.2, nearly doubled the numbers of its nearest competitor, NBC's much-maligned "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which delivered a 3.2 rating, comparable to the numbers the show has been getting in recent weeks.

Univision was fifth overall at 1.5/4, with its best coming from a 2.1 rating for "La Fea Mas Bella." The CW was sixth at 1.2/3, with "Girlfriends" leading the way with a 1.4.
