CW Keeps 'Beauty,' Uses 'Gilmore' To Enhance Web

The CW is preparing a fourth season of books-and-looks reality show "Beauty and the Geek."

The pick-up appears to be a holdover deal from when the show was on the now-defunct WB--although the freshman network is pleased with its performance in the current season, which began Jan. 3. (The show's Wednesday at 8 p.m. slot has placed it against juggernaut "American Idol" on several occasions.)

It's unclear when the next season would air, although a redux of this year, where the eight-episode series serves as a placeholder before the new season of "America's Next Top Model," seems likely.

The show pits eight teams of a would-be attractive but vapid female and a brainy-but-socially awkward male against each other.

Separately, as the CW attempts to build traffic to its Web site, the network and sponsor T-Mobile have launched an online quiz show affiliated with "The Gilmore Girls." Visitors to cwtv.com can view a series of video clips from the series each week. They are challenged to answer related trivia questions about pop culture.

Sponsor T-Mobile is offering series devotees the opportunity to download ringtones from among "personalized song lists of the characters." The game and promotion run through March 6.
