"Siriusly Sinatra," set to launch later this winter, will replace "Standard Time" on Sirius channel 75. The show is produced by the Sinatra family.
In addition to blocks of Sinatra's music, the channel will feature a weekly show hosted by his daughter, Nancy. While she plans to include live concert performances and special archived material, there is no word yet on whether on-air guests will become part of the mix.
"America discovered my father on the radio. Now his earliest audience and his newest audience can hear his music and live performances," says Nancy Sinatra. The association secures her father's legacy as part of "the future of audio entertainment."
Scott Greenstein, Sirius president, entertainment and sports, calls Sinatra's music a "vibrant and living treasure," noting that he was the first performer to create concept albums.
Greenstein says his company's format, coupled with the family partnership, is a unique opportunity to explore the vast body of Sinatra's artistry.
The singer received 13 Grammy awards and sang the first Billboard No. 1 single in 1940: "I'll Never Smile Again."
