Coca-Cola Narrows Field, May Hire Someone Instead Of Heyer

Coca-Cola Co. has zeroed in on four outsiders as potential candidates to succeed Douglas Daft, in one what is the powerful beverage marketer's first-ever outside search for a chairman-CEO, reports The Wall Street Journal. The outsiders - all heads of other major consumer marketing concerns, are expected to vie with Steven Heyer, Daft's No. 2, and a long-time fixture on and around Madison Avenue, for the top job. Heyer has been a champion of moving Coca-Cola away from traditional advertising-based media and more toward a branded entertainment approach.
