Chevrolet Mixes Hip Hop, Lynyrd Skynyrd In Nascar Spots

  • February 16, 2007
Chevrolet will break new car and truck advertising on Sunday during the Fox broadcast of the Daytona 500 Nextel Cup season opener for Nascar.

A spot for the Chevy cars offers a strange-bedfellow mix of Nascar, hip hop and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The other is the first ad for Chevy's 2007 Silverado heavy duty pickup, and furthers the "Ain't We Got Love" campaign that broke during the Super Bowl set to the music of John Mellencamp.

The new brand ad shows rapper T.I. doing a hip hop version of the Lynyrd Skynyrd hit "Sweet Home Alabama," on the Daytona Speedway infield with a raft of new and vintage Chevys.

Chevy will run an online promotion at foxsports.com/silverado dangling Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Silverado. Earnhardt will meet with the winner at the Texas Motor Speedway on April 15 where he'll hand off the keys to his Silverado. -- Karl Greenberg
