Producers of the reality show "Supernanny" are developing a new reality show for ABC focused on weight loss. The still-untitled show will star a certified trainer, yoga teacher or fitness guru chosen
from national search who will try to help a group of overweight people burn off extra pounds.
But don't mistake the upcoming ABC program as a doppelganger for NBC's "The Biggest
Loser," which rewards one contestant for shedding the most weight. "We produce transformational, feel good, how-to and self-help TV," says Johnnie Raines, a company spokesperson. "It's about offering
simple solutions to basic problems."
The producer, the Los Angeles office of UK-based Ricochet Television, describes the show as "combining physical and mental challenges with the opportunity
for the cast members to win a large cash prize, while the fitness expert inspires them to transform." It begins shooting in mid-April.
Raines, who also does casting duties, said the show will
premiere this summer. He didn't name potential sponsors, but promised endorsements from major sports manufacturers.

The show will also launch a new fitness brand, a la Jackie Warner, the
trainer star of Bravo TV's "Workout" reality show. Per Raines, the show's trainer will get marketing support from the network to create an eponymous brand. "We're searching for the new face and body
of American fitness."
Unlike "Loser," which has only one winner, all eight to 12 contestants will be able to win prizes.
