CBS Thursdays: Original Shows Zap Rivals' Reruns

CBS' all-original programming lineup on Thursday night--against many re-runs--made it an easy winner in a non-sweeps April Thursday.

Each of the network's shows, "Survivor: Fiji," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and "Shark," easily won their respective time periods. CBS averaged a 5.0 rating/15 share for the evening among 18-49 viewers. "CSI" was the highest-rated show of the night with a 6.7/18.

The also-rans--ABC, NBC and Fox--fought for the rest of the honors. Fox came in second, just ahead of ABC. Its "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" was its best earner, with a 3.5/11--coming in second to "Survivor" at 8 p.m. The rest of the evening, Fox went with two re-runs of "Family Guy."

ABC was right behind Fox with a 2.6/8. Its best numbers came from a "Grey's Anatomy" repeat, with a 3.1/9. The net's "October Road" seemed to continually gain traction, earning a respectable 3/9 and coming in second to CBS' "Shark" at 10 p.m.

NBC also went with all originals--but didn't get the same results as CBS. Its best performer was a super-sized episode of "The Office," which booked a 3.2/10 and ran from 8 p.m. to 8:43 p.m. Another super-sized episode, "30 Rock," fresh off its renewal news, took in a 2.5/7 airing from 8:43 p.m. to 9:23 p.m.
