Online social networking site MySpace and reality TV producer Mark Burnett are teaming for the early 2008 launch of a show to search for an independent presidential candidate. The political reality
show "Independent" will award a $1 million cash prize to finance a run for the White House or can be given to a political action committee or political cause.
MySpace users and TV
viewers will rate contestants' performances in an interactive "town hall" setting. Potential candidates will audition by video. Chosen contestants will set up MySpace profiles to serve as their
campaign headquarters. No TV network has yet committed.
