Omnicom Names Media Group Chief In The U.K., Recruits From Outside

Long-time U.K. agency media executive Philippa Brown has been named CEO of Omnicom Media Group U.K., a new corporate-level post within the world's largest agency holding company that will oversee the its two media networks - OMD and PHD - in Great Britain.

The move comes as Omnicom Media Group's worldwide CEO Daryl Simm has had to take on an acting role as head of OMD's global media operations following the departure of Joe Uva, who left to run Univision.

Omnicom has not indicated whether Simm's oversight of OMD is temporary until a new CEO is recruited, or whether it will be a long-term post. Uva was one of two top Omnicom media execs to step down in recent months. Steve Grubbs, former CEO of PHD in the U.S., recently stepped down to oversee an Omnicom sports marketing and entertainment unit.

Omnicom recruited its new U.K. media chief from London-based consumer magazine publisher IPC Media, where she was a board director.
