EVP/CMO Brian Cornell is leaving after three years to actively pursue a search for the top leadership role at another company, per Safeway.
Chairman/President/CEO Steve Burd credited him
with reorganizing Safeway's centralized marketing, merchandising and supply chain functions, and customer insight and market research.
Upon Cornell's departure June 1, and until a successor is
named, the marketing organization will report directly to Burd.
Safeway has 1,755 stores in the United States and Canada.
