Barrington Buys Midwest Stations

  • January 13, 2004
Barrington Broadcast Co. Tuesday said it agreed to buy two Midwest TV stations from Chesley Broadcasting Co. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed though both have to be approved by the Federal Communications Commission. The stations involved are WHOI, an ABC affiliate in Peoria, Ill., and KHQA, the CBS affiliate in Quincy, Ill., and nearby Hannibal, Mo. Barrington Broadcasting, based in Hoffman Estates, Ill., opened shop last year to operate and acquire mid-size market TV stations. It's not the first association between Barrington and Chesley, as Barrington has operated eight TV stations owned by Chesley since last March.
