Natives Fight Martha Stewart's Branding Of Katonah

  • May 31, 2007
Native Americans are joining the fight against Martha Stewart and her Martha Stewart Omnimedia, which wants to trademark the name Katonah for a new line of domestic products, the Associated Press is reporting.

An anti-trademark battle is already being waged by the Katonah (N.Y.)Village Improvement Society. Stewart owns a $16 million estate in the village, which is named in honor of Chief Katonah, a leader of the Ramapough tribe, which sold the land to European settlers in 1680.
