60 Staffers To Be Cut From San Jose Mercury News

Staff cuts at the San Jose Mercury News are expected this summer--60 newsroom positions are to be axed. The owner, MediaNews, now owns every paid daily paper around the San Francisco Bay area but the San Francisco Chronicle, which is also suffering staff reductions. The proposed cuts will impact 24% of the 250-member staff.
