Fox's Reality Shows Beat The Rest

CBS' new reality show "Pirate Master" hasn't seen any wind at its back yet.

The Mark Burnett-produced show, sort of a "Survivor" at sea, could only muster a 2.3 rating/8 share among adult 18-49 viewers on Thursday night.

Not even with the word "pirate" in the title was the show able to get a breeze from the other big entertainment force of the show, Walt Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."

Burnett had major luck a decade ago launching "Survivor" in the summer. But he's had somewhat less success with "Rock Star: INXS" and "Rock Star: Supernova" over the past two summers.

"Pirate Master" couldn't keep up with the more-established Fox show "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?"--also produced by Burnett--which pulled in a 3.2/11.

ABC had its own tough going for the night with "The 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee" at 8 p.m. The alphabet network could only spell out a 2.0/6 for the two-hour special.

Fox led the way overall for Thursday, adding to its already strong summer start. It posted a 3.8/12, with its best coming again from "So You Think You Can Dance?"--which pulled down a 4.3/12 number, tops for all network shows.

For the night, Fox grabbed a 3.8/12, CBS came through with a 2.6/8 and ABC was in third with a 1.9/6. NBC was next, a 1.7/5, The CW pulled a 0.7/2, and MyNetworkTV, with theatrical movie "Crazy Beautiful," sat at bottom with a 0.4/1.
