It may not have been evident to everyone in the room, but David Vise's very smart, funny and inspired keynote conversation with EDVentures Holdings chairman Esther Dyson, in which he adopted different
persona, was a total surprise to Esther. Without missing a beat, Dyson fell right into it -- telling "Bill Gates" to forget about DoubleClick, forget about Yahoo, and go focus on medicine and
education -- and look at emerging markets like China and Russia. The future of search, she said, is no longer in search, but in personalized applications. Dyson is a legendary swimmer and
globe-trotter, and for now all she wants is an intelligent agent that enables her to make travel plans, knows her preferences and and tells her what time the pool opens. (I've been a long-time fan
of Dyson and her legendary swimming habits. She even agreed to do a one-on-one video interview IN the hotel pool, but we weren't able to find a camera that could accommodate her schedule and that
orchestration.)
