Poring back over my notes from today's sessions, it's actually pretty hard to pick just one quote of the day. In fact, I probably have enough material here to dedicate an entire column to top quotes
from the summit -- which I may just end up doing next week. For now, though, I think I'll roll with one from Scott Rhodes, President and CEO of
VeoTag. Speaking on
the Video Search Optimization panel, Scott used the following analogy to describe why the role of search is functional and, even with a sexy platform like video, we should focus on search as a
utility, not the end-all-be-all...
"As I tell my kids when we travel, 'You don't want the train ride to be exciting, you want the destination to be exciting.'"
VeoTag's leadership has many problems beginning with not appreciating and learning from the excitement of the journey. Mr. Rhodes needs to go back and read history and its literary classics and take his face away from technology for awhile for at least the sake of his children. He has missed the train since he has learned nothing from experience. Or is he just talking with his foot in his mouth with nothing else to say and knows better?
