FUSE EXTINGHISHES ITS... THROWS SUPPORT (OR IS THAT GASOLINE) BEHIND MTV - Normally, competitors - especially up-and-coming ones - can't wait to kick their rivals when they're down, but Fuse, the spunky music video channel owned by Rainbow Media Holdings, is throwing support behind MTV during a time of need. Or is it? Read for yourself an "open letter" Fuse has published following the "wardrobe malfunction" that occurred during MTV's production of the Super Bowl halftime show.

An Open Letter to MTV
Dear Friends at MTV,

Every day the entertainment industry is a victim of senseless, brutal wardrobe malfunctions, accidents, and outright crimes.

MTV, we at Fuse are standing with you!

Even though we are competitors, we think it's time to put aside our differences and take a stand. Let us not dwell on last Sunday's halftime show -- the dated songs, the random crotch grabs and the senseless lip-synching. No. Let's put that all aside and focus on the issue at hand: VELCRO JUST DOES NOT WORK.

Many of us here have been victims of wardrobe malfunctions and understand the life-long impact one single costume catastrophe can have.

We at Fuse will support you any way we can. We will continue to play music videos every day, all day, day after day after day.

SAY IT AIN'T SO, PETER -- The Riff was surprised and saddened to learn that Peter Chrisanthopoulos has pled guilty to charges of conspiring to defraud the U.S. government while working at MindShare on the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy account. Ever since we first met him as a young, ambitious media buyer at Ohlmeyer Advertising back in the, the ad shop owned by Don Ohlmeyer that once handled Nabisco's advertising and media, we always thought Chrisanthopoulos was destined for something great. And over the years, he always showed great signs of that, whether it was as a top media buyer at leading ad agencies, during his short reign as head of marketing for ABC, or when he created and ran the all-too-short-lived Network Television Association.
