Mobile Media Usage at a Glance

Heidi Lehmann of Third Screen Media broke down the numbers for the four main types of mobile usage:

#1 is SMS - with 104 million unique monthly users #2 is mobile Web - (WAP) with 37.7 million #3 is downloadable apps -- 7.8 million #4 is video -- 4.7 million

Though mobile video has caught the attention of many advertisers, its still the least most used mobile media feature, a testament most likely to the lack of technology. The message? If you've got a mobile campaign, make sure its layered so that it can reach your most basic user (via SMS) on up to users with 3G capable phones (mobile video).
