A&W Takes Aim At McDonald's Meat

A&W's newest ad campaign touts its use of only U.S. beef in it hamburgers, while trashing industry leader McDonald's for having "millions of pounds of beef from foreign places" on its menu. The 30-second spot also promotes A&W's "Papa Burger," claiming it to be "the real American" cheeseburger.

"Our research shows that consumers want great tasting hamburgers that are made from 100% U.S. beef," says company spokeswoman Allison Grever. Of course, it doesn't mean it is any better for you: The Papa Burger has just as much fat, calories and salt as a Quarter-Pounder with Cheese.
