MTV Networks' TV Land said it would launch its version of "America's Top Model" for the over-35 set next spring. With the working title "The Next Great Supermodel," the previously announced series is
being conducted in partnership with the Wilhelmina Models firm.
The goal is to find a trendsetter over 35--TV Land targets a baby boomer audience--"who exudes sophistication, beauty
and confidence."
The winner of the six-part reality-competition series receives a lucrative contract with Wilhelmina.
"We're so excited to move forward with this project to give much-needed
representation on television to the beauty of women in their Power Years," said Larry Jones, TV Land president.
The series represents another move by the network, founded as a Nick at Nite
spinoff, to expand its programming into originals and beyond re-runs of "All in the Family," "M*A*S*H" and "The Andy Griffith Show."
