NBC will simulcast the remaining Notre Dame football games it airs this fall on an NBC Sports mobile channel. The channel's backbone is MobiTV, available via a range of carriers, including Sprint and
AT&T.
Six games remain, including this Saturday's against Michigan State, for the 0-3 team whose home games have been carried by NBC for years. NBC Sports is one of about 100
channels available to mobile subscribers with certain handsets. They pay an additional $10 through their carrier for the MobiTV service.
NBC is expected to use the ad breaks that come on TV for
their own on-air promos on mobile, a representative for MobiTV said. The slate of games is highlighted by the Oct. 20 match-up with top-ranked USC.
Privately held MobiTV's other channels include a
non-sports NBC offering and MSNBC feed, along with ABC News Now, Fox Sports and ESPN 3GTV, among others.
